A NEW FIGHT INSIDE ZANU PF SHOWS WHY ZIMBABWE NEEDS REAL CHANGE

Another storm is now growing inside ZANU PF, and as usual it is the people of Zimbabwe who will suffer the most. Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, the same man who led the 2017 coup that removed Robert Mugabe, is now saying Jonathan Moyo committed treason. He says Jonathan Moyo wrote a secret paper that was meant to change the country’s political system and move the 2028 elections to 2035. This big claim is coming just before ZANU PF’s annual conference in Mutare, and it has already brought fear, confusion and tension to our already broken politics.

This new fight between Chiwenga and President Emmerson Mnangagwa is not just a personal issue. It is a fight for power. It is about who gets to sit on top while ordinary people continue to live in poverty with no jobs, no electricity, and no hope. The people are suffering every day, but those in power continue to play games with the future of the nation.

Chiwenga says the secret project, called the Breaking Barriers Initiative, was created by Jonathan Moyo to delay the elections and keep the same corrupt system alive until 2035. He says the project is getting money from wealthy businessmen like Kudakwashe Tagwirei, Wicknell Chivhayo, Scott Sakupwanya, and Delish Nguwaya. These names are well known by Zimbabweans. They are men who live large while the country falls apart. They are the faces of state capture, people who have turned politics into a business that benefits them while the citizens suffer.

What hurts the most is the hypocrisy. Chiwenga, who is shouting “treason” today, is the same man who once led soldiers and tanks into the streets to remove Mugabe. He said he was saving the country, but today he is part of a government that is accused of looting, abusing the law, and blocking freedom. Mnangagwa, who once promised reform and democracy, is now surrounded by people who want him to stay in power beyond his two constitutional terms.

This fight is not about justice. It is not about democracy. It is about greed. It is about who controls the country’s money, minerals and power. Each time ZANU PF fights within itself, the country suffers. The economy gets worse, more people leave the country, and families are split by hunger and migration. South Africa already has millions of Zimbabweans looking for a better life, while our leaders continue to fight for positions.

History is showing us the same story again. ZANU PF has always had fights inside the party. Even from the days when Mugabe took over from Ndabaningi Sithole in the 1970s, the party has been full of betrayal and greed. The 2017 coup was supposed to be a new start, but it only gave us new leaders with the same old problems. Now the people who once worked together are ready to destroy each other, and the whole country will pay the price.

The truth is clear. Zimbabwe will not find peace or progress under ZANU PF. The dreams of the people have been destroyed by many years of corruption and selfishness. No one in the party is fighting for ordinary citizens. They are only fighting for money and power.

As the ZANU PF conference starts in Mutare, the people must send one message. We are tired. We are tired of lies, tired of poverty, tired of leaders who do not care. No secret document, no coup, and no conference can decide our future for us. The power belongs to the people.

Zimbabwe needs real change. It will not come from ZANU PF’s battles. It will come when the people stand together and demand the country they deserve. The struggle continues, and our hope remains strong.

  1. The hypocrisy exposed here is painful but necessary. Those who came through tanks cannot suddenly pretend to defend democracy. Zimbabwe deserves leaders who serve the people, not themselves. This is a reminder that the 2017 coup did not bring change, only new faces. The same corruption, the same greed, and the same suffering continue while elites fight over power.

  2. Vice President Chiwenga is right to raise concerns about national security. Any attempt to delay elections illegally must be exposed, regardless of who is involved. This is leadership, not power struggle. The piece ignores the fact that Zimbabwe has remained peaceful since 2017. Internal party debates are normal in any democracy and should not be exaggerated into national crisis.

  3. Opposition activists always use party discussions to attack the government. ZANU PF remains the only party capable of protecting sovereignty and guiding Zimbabwe’s future
