WICKNELL CHIVAYO’S MILLION DOLLAR SCANDAL SHOWS HOW DEEP ZANU PF CORRUPTION GOES

Wicknell Chivayo is a name almost everyone in Zimbabwe knows. He is famous for showing off money, big cars, and his close links to powerful people in government. He has often been seen next to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and many people believe his political connections protect him. But now things have changed. He is at the centre of a huge scandal worth US$100 million, money that was meant to support Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections. Instead of helping the country, it looks like a lot of that money went into the wrong pockets.

The scandal began with a tender to supply election materials. The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, known as ZEC, gave this tender to a South African company called Ren-Form CC. The payment was R1.2 billion, which is about US$66 million. From that money, Chivayo somehow ended up with R800 million. That amount is more than US$40 million. People are asking how he got this money when he did not even win the tender. He was not officially part of the process. But his companies and other groups linked to him still received a huge amount of money.

This issue is now under investigation in both Zimbabwe and South Africa. There is talk of money laundering and strange bank transfers. There are many signs that something is not right. When there is this much smoke, people know there is usually a fire behind it. The story first came out through NewsHawks, and soon other news groups also reported it. Then the South African Financial Intelligence Centre started its own investigation. It became clear that this was not a rumour or a political fight. This was a real case, and authorities are following the money step by step.

Chivayo responded with a long message on social media. He said he did nothing wrong. He said people were jealous of him. He said he works hard for his money. He even mocked people by saying if they do not understand contracts, they should go to night school. But his message did not help him. Many people said he sounded angry and confused. Instead of clearing his name, his words made him look more guilty. He also said he never worked with ZEC, but if that is true, why did his companies get more than US$40 million from this election tender?

He also said there was no missing money, no crime, and no complainant. But investigations are still going on. Many people are watching closely because this is public money. This is money that belongs to the citizens of Zimbabwe. Chivayo attacked the media. He blamed people living outside the country. He blamed the opposition. He called the whole thing a political attack. But he still did not answer the simple question everyone is asking: why did he receive money from a tender he did not win?

People in Zimbabwe are tired of corruption. They are tired of leaders who care only about themselves. Schools have no books. Hospitals have no medicine. Roads are broken. Life is hard. But some people connected to ZANU PF continue to get millions from shady government deals. Chivayo says he wants to be the youngest billionaire in the country, and no one will stop him. But this time he might be wrong. The law may finally catch up with him. Zimbabweans are watching, and the world is watching too.

This scandal is bigger than one man. It exposes how ZANU PF uses state money for personal gain. It shows how elections are controlled through money and corruption. It shows why Zimbabwe stays poor even when we have many resources. The investigations will continue. The truth will come out. And justice, even if slow, will come. Makatangirwa neDare, Wicknell.
