ENDING CHILD MARRIAGES IN ZIMBABWE
In Zimbabwe, there is a big problem that needs fixing. Some old leaders and groups are causing a lot of trouble for the people, especially young girls. These bad leaders, who are part of a group called zanu pf, are taking advantage of people to stay in power. They are friends with some groups who follow very old traditions. These traditions are not good for children, especially girls.
One of the terrible traditions is that young girls, even as young as thirteen, are getting married to older men. This is very dangerous because these young girls are not ready to have babies, but they are forced to. When they try to have babies, it can be very harmful to them, and sometimes they die. This is very sad and wrong.
The bad leaders like this tradition because it helps them stay in power. They get support from these groups who follow the old traditions. In return, they let these groups continue with their harmful ways. This is not fair to the people of Zimbabwe, especially the young girls who deserve a chance to grow up safely and happily.
Some of these groups also deny children the right to see a doctor when they are sick. This is not good because children can get very sick and sometimes they can die if they don’t get the right medicine or care. The leaders don’t do anything to help because they are only thinking about themselves and how to stay in power.
It is clear that Zimbabwe needs change. The leaders need to start caring about the people and stop these bad traditions. The people of Zimbabwe deserve to live in a place where everyone is treated fairly and can live safely. It’s time to stop child marriages and give every child in Zimbabwe the chance to live a happy and healthy life. They deserve a future full of hope, not fear.
