ELECTRICITY PRICES SHOOT UP!
In 2021, a big surprise came from ZESA, the electricity company. They raised the prices for electricity very high. This was shocking because many kids in 2021 and 2022 have never had enough electricity. They read about ZESA by candlelight as they lived in darkness.
The people running ZESA seemed to not understand the situation. They increased the prices even when there was very little electricity being supplied. It’s like making bread in mud ovens when there’s no wheat. The situation was very tough and didn’t make sense.
For many years, the group in charge didn’t care about making or sharing electricity properly. They didn’t fix old equipment or build new things to make more electricity. They were more focused on other things which were not helpful.
This bad management made the electricity situation worse. Because there wasn’t enough electricity, some people started stealing important parts from the electricity places. They needed money for important things like medicine for their parents. But by doing this, they made the electricity problem even bigger.
Recently, despite all these problems, ZESA decided to make people pay even more for electricity. This new money will likely end up with some rich people who don’t really need it. They will use it to build big houses and buy fancy cars. Meanwhile, everyone else struggles without electricity.
Some hope that new leaders will come next year to fix these problems. Until then, it seems like people will have to continue using candles instead of enjoying electricity. The situation is very sad and needs to change soon for the better.
