ZIMBABWE SPEAKER IGNORES COURT, REMOVES OPPOSITION MPs

Zimbabwe is facing a big political problem. The Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, has removed 18 opposition MPs and senators. He did this even after the High Court told him to stop. This has made many people question if the country is still following the law.

The problem started with a man named Sengezo Tshabangu. He says he is part of the opposition party, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC). But many people think he is working with the government. He told Parliament to remove some CCC MPs. The leader of CCC, Nelson Chamisa, said this was wrong. He took the matter to court.

The High Court listened and said no MPs should be removed until a hearing on November 20. The judge gave this order at 1:30 pm. Mudenda’s lawyers were in court and heard this order. They even called him to tell him about it. But even after hearing this, Mudenda still removed the MPs later in the afternoon, after 4 pm.

Many people are now asking if Zimbabwe still respects the law. A judge gave an order, but a top leader ignored it. This shows that politics in Zimbabwe is not fair. The government is using tricks to remove opposition members.

The opposition party is now fighting back. They want the court to stop Mudenda. They say what he did was illegal. They also believe that powerful people in the government are using Parliament to weaken their party.

The court will hear the case on November 20. This is a very important date. If the court lets Mudenda’s actions stand, then it means politicians in Zimbabwe can ignore the law. This will be bad for democracy. If the court stops Mudenda, then it will show that the law is still strong.

People in Zimbabwe and the rest of the world are watching. They want to see if Zimbabwe is still a country that follows the law. If leaders like Mudenda can ignore a court order, then what will stop others from doing the same?

A good government must follow the law. When a judge makes a ruling, everyone must respect it. If people ignore court orders, then there is no democracy.

Zimbabwe is at a very important point. What happens next will show if the country still has a real democracy. The people hope that the court will make the right decision.
